Remembering the house that
Built me
When I look back on the memories and experiences that shaped me and led me to where I am today I think about the home where I grew up, a beautiful 1910 Antebellum home in Atlanta, Georgia. This was the house that built me…the house that influenced and shaped my love of architecture and my conviction that home truly is the most important place in the world.
Looking back, remembering the care and creativity with which my mother designed every room in her cherished dream home, I see it as no coincidence that I have the distinct honor of helping buyers and sellers with the often largest and most important transactions of their lives.
Still, My path to becoming a Real Estate Advisor was not linear or predictable…
I grew up heavily involved in the performing arts, graduated from Vanderbilt University with a degree in Musical Performance and Communications and was selected Miss Tennessee before moving to NYC to pursue a career in entertainment. I quickly realized that the life of a starving artist wasn’t totally for me so, in between auditions, I started working as a nightclub waitress and bartender.
Working in NYC hospitality was really the foundation for my love of food, wine, cocktails and entertaining. Then, I became a yoga instructor as well so a new element of health/wellness/self care/lifestyle was also becoming an integral part of my life and identity. Still, I was inspired to find a new career path and build something of my own around all of my passions and skills.
Cue real estate... I was always interested in getting licensed to sell homes
and I had an intuition that my background living in and appreciating beautiful homes, architecture, interior design and my experience in hospitality would combine in a seamless and fulfilling way. I first got my license in NYC and then several years later in LA, where I now live with my husband and consider my primary residence.
Real Estate, for me, is not just about the transaction of finding and listing properties, exchanging contracts and negotiations, and all of the systems and processes that are involved with my job as an advisor and agent. Real estate is rooted in a vision and answers the deeply personal question, “How do you want to live?” I ask myself and my clients this question daily, as the deeply personal answer is a North Star to where any given client might find their version of peace, beauty and a desire to plant roots. My job as a real estate advisor really found wings when I embraced my own passion for interiors, for design and for using my artistic sensibilities to guide my clients in evaluating any given space.
